Nissan and Renault are currently under the same corporation. However, the two companies have decided to come together and jointly develop ten new models. By doing this, the company hopes to cut down its costs by consolodating the number of suppliers and reducing the procurement costs. A value-chain match-up exists through this joint venture. Unfortunately, the two companies only share 8 components out of hundreds involved in the production of their vehicles. Although this does cut down on costs, the savings are limited. However, the companies are looking into developing and sharing even more components in the near future.
